Steve PatrickFundamentals of Trumpet Playing

A word from Steve about his “Fundamentals of Trumpet Playing” video series:

“Arrangers and composers demand more of trumpet players physically than that of any other instrument. It is the nature of trumpet players to want to work on just certain skills and not approach the trumpet as a whole. People who struggle with range either give up or tell themselves it’s not important for the music they want to play. Similar can be said for players who only want “fast fingers” or the ability to tongue fast passages. The problem is that by focusing on only one or two skills, players find themselves ill-equipped to play the wide range of material that is asked of them. The only way to counter this, is by becoming excellent at all skills and understanding that they all go hand in hand. Triple tonguing can affect range; endurance can affect sound – it’s all connected.

This series of 15 episodes strives to help students understand how mastering basic fundamentals allows us to play anything that is put in front of us. It is very important to realize that this lesson series is meant to be approached as a whole and not a part. You can’t simply go to the video that you are interested in. For results, you must start from the beginning.”

This series can be purchased in full (all 15 episodes included) or as individual packages (episodes 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, and 13-15).
